Tis the season to be BUSY!!!
So, let's catch up - last I wrote my life was being taken over by basketball, scouts, mutual, presidency meeting, housework, cooking, cleaning, ex husband visitation, and the general running errands.
Today - it's being run by all those things in addition to a JOB!
I got a phone call last Thursday from someone I didn't know. A man, new in our ward, that is an attorney, has been thinking about hiring a legal secretary and moving his current secretary into a legal aide position. Thursday she called in sick and he was scrambling. His wife called our RS president to see if she knew of anyone that had the potential and the skills to fill in - my name came to her mind, so he called me up, and within an hour I was sitting in an office being briefed on how things worked...
He's looking for part time for Dec and Jan, looking to move me to full time come Feb if I like the job and can figure out what to do about the kids...
Besides being completely busy and overwhelmed, I'm loving it. This is exactly the kind of work I enjoy - running an office - organizing, filing, answering phones, directing clients...I've always wanted to do it in the legal field too - something new to learn, different people and different cases all the time - things never getting dull or old. It is an incredible blessing. I'm in awe about it still. I worked on Thursday, Friday and again today and then tomorrow too. I already had things to do Wed-Fri of this week, then the kids are out of school for 2 weeks and I plan to go back. My boss is loving my work so far it sounds like. He's anxious for me to work things out with the kids so I can commit to going full time with him in Feb. (anyone wanna watch a kid or two for a few hours in the afternoons??) I'm taking it one day at a time, thinking about all the different things that have to be taken into account...
On other news, Chuck gets home from being out of town on Wednesday! I'm finding myself quite excited to see him, and have missed him a lot while he's been gone. We've got all sorts of fun plans made!
I'm mostly ready for Christmas - and yet not. It always comes and goes so fast... But I've got most of the gifts bought (but not wrapped yet) I have a few more things to get - that I was supposed to get on Thursday, but I got that call about the job... So, I'm not sure when I'll get to finish, as I'm working until the kids get out of school...I'll just have to have Austin babysit and create some time to run off to the stores!
